Okay, I got some yarn today, and I think its the yarn for my pal. It's the Crystal Palace Yarns "Panda Wool" in the red cinnamon colorway. It's 46% Bamboo, 43% wool and 11% nylon. I've been intrigued with this yarn since I first saw it (of course I don't know where). I got it from my local yarn store.
For some reason, I've been drawn toward reds and oranges for this person. Don't know why. Based on some feedback I've gotten from her, it may not be her first choice, but I really like this stuff. I think I may just have to start knitting and see. Of course I don't have a pattern fully set yet. I'm thinking something kind of lacy....
If you have a minute I'd love some input.
Tangentally, or in the "Am I Crazy?" category, I found out today that my county fair's knitting section's theme this year is socks. I'm thinking about submitting a pair.

If I'm your pal I would be happy to see them on my feet:D
I adore that colorwya.
that is a pretty bright colorway. If she likes bright, then go for it. If not, hey -you have wonderful yarn for yourself!
And do submit socks for the county fair. The more entries the better. Grandprise a number of years ago in the entire knitting, sewing and fiber area was a plain pair of 3 ply handspun knit on #0 needles.
Lovely colors! Knitting socks for the fair sounds like a great idea--I keep thinking that I'll come up with something for my local fair, I guess I should decide soon!
I love the CP Bamboo, I have a pair of unfinished socks in that very colorway. It's great to knit with, although the pattern doesn't pop out as much as I would like. I'm sure it would be better with a lacy pattern rather than twisted stitches.
Submit! Submit! Submit those socks!
Socks need more attenrtion then they get. I was planning on the state fair thing too. Alas we are moving so maybe next year:D
Good luck!
